Hello!

I’m Meredith Abernathy, owner and photographer at Beach Photo LLC, and mom to Kenan Abernathy, a current 10U Topsail Pirate. My husband and I have 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls), lived in the area for nearly 11 years, and have been in Surf City for 9 of those years.

I have owned Beach Photo since 2015 and have built a successful photography business centered around delivering a superior craft along with an excellent customer service record. I have an extensive photography and fine art background having learned film photography and digital media since my early teens, and then following a course of study in photography as one of my concentrations in art school at UNC-Chapel Hill. I have a BFA in both fine art and art history, as well as experience in corporate sales and teaching prior to owning Beach Photo.

Most of what I do are custom portrait sessions for families with natural lighting outdoors, but I also use full studio lighting and indoor sets as well. I have done all of the portraits for our daughters’ dance studio and their competition dance team for the last 7 years.

Based on that experience, I have crafted a proposal from what I have learned that parents want most when capturing their child’s team experience, as well as utilizing what I do best: creative portrait art.

What I have found over the last several years is that while printed photos are always important, the digital portrait is what parents want the most—to be able to share on social media, to have a digital copy to keep forever, and to still have the ability to print as much as they choose on their own.

For that reason, our packages are centered around the digital product with options to also purchase professional prints and artwork from us as well.

Every single image we create takes a good bit of time and attention, so there is a minimum cost associated with the hours that go into that work. Pricing for a team such as the dance studio or the Topsail Junior Pirates is far less expensive than our regular sessions, but that is because I subsidize the pricing understanding how other “volume” photographers typically price team photography, but also as a gesture of goodwill to all the families sharing the same team that my own children are a part of.

If I were to do the team portraits for Topsail Junior Pirates, whether for the entire league or just the 10U team, the pricing options and portrait process would be as follows:

All players would come to the Kiwanis field dressed in uniforms and ready to be photographed (ideal time starting about 1.5-2hours before sunset). Their parents/caregiver will fill out a small order form and choose the poses for their player (we will have an iPad on hand with photo samples to facilitate this), and pay at the time their photo is taken through card or cash.

Price per player:

$25 for 1 high resolution digital portrait

OR

$30 for 2 high resolution digital portraits

$40 for 4 high resolution digital portraits

Add on Team Portrait Digital: $6 (must be purchased with package)

Additional Options:

All players that are photographed would have access to an individual online gallery to download their portraits and then would have the option to order prints directly from their gallery.

Pricing for archival quality, lustre coated prints from our professional lab and shipped directly to the customer (taxes and shipping fees will be added to order):

11x14 - $20

8x10 print - $10

5x7 print - $8

Set of 4 wallet prints - $8

We will also have options for ordering canvas prints, posters, metal wall art, and acrylic box art — all of which can be ordered directly from their online gallery and shipped directly to them.

Expected turnaround time for edited portraits to be uploaded and delivered to online galleries is dependent of the number of players that are photographed, but would be expected to be around 2 weeks or less for a small number of players and about 3-4 weeks for several teams.
